WELCOME TO THE BALKAN ICONS EXHIBITION!This website presents a unique collection of about 100 contemporary Orthodox Christian icons, painted by more then 30 authors from 5 Balkan countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Serbia and Montenegro).These icons are forming a travelling exhibition which is currently touring Western Europe, curated by Mr. Lazar Predrag Markovic. Icons belong to three styles: Traditional/Neo-Byzantine, Modern and Naive.
The most recent exhibition of 90 icons was displayed at the church Hallgrimskirkja (the tallest and most visited building in Iceland) open daily from 09-20h. The exhibition duration was prolonged until 09 July due to increased interest among public. Curator did held a free public lecture on iconography at the Hallgrimskirkja, Sunday, 09 July at 12:30h.
